Vassi spent his working career with Deloitte and was appointed as CEO of Deloitte Southern Africa in 1998 and chairman of the Africa Board in 2004. He retired from Deloitte in November 2014 after 37 years with the firm.
During his tenure at Deloitte he worked in Africa, Europe, Russia and India, including serving as member of the Global Board of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (until 2006), member of the Global Executive of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (until 2011), member of the Deloitte UK Executive (from 2006 until 2009) and as vice chairman of Deloitte UK (from 2009 until 2014).Read More
Vassi has extensive business experience in Audit, Corporate Finance, and Mergers & Acquisitions in the Energy, Mining, Telecommunication and Banking Sectors, having served some of Deloitte’s largest clients including Barloworld, First Rand Bank, Anglo American, Mondi, Tata, Vedanta, Zee TV, Essar and Econet. He serves on several boards, including as non-executive director and chairman of Nedbank Limited and Nedbank Group Limited, as non-executive director of Old Mutual Plc and of Old Mutual Group Holdings (SA) (Pty) Limited and as senior independent director on the board of Mauritius based Liquid Telecommunications Holdings Limited.
He is a member of ICAEW and SAICA and was conferred honorary life membership of SAICA in 2011 for his contribution to the development of the profession in South Africa. Vassi is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Auditing at the University of Johannesburg. Vassi is a past chairman of the Africa Children Feeding Scheme and is a Trustee of the Thuthuka Bursary Scheme.

Knight has significant corporate finance and deal making experience. She played an instrumental role in the JSE listing of Delta Property Fund Limited in 2012 where she held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer prior to taking up the leadership role at Grit. During her tenure at Delta Property Fund Limited, Knight spearheaded the diversification of the REIT’s funding sources into the debt capital markets, leading to the establishment of a ZAR2 billion Domestic Medium Term Note Programme (DMTN programme). She led the team responsible for obtaining a national scale issuer rating from Global Credit Ratings as part of the DMTN programme. In addition, Bronwyn co-headed the team responsible for growing assets under management from ZAR 2.2 billion at listing to ZAR 11.8 billion in May 2016, at which time she assumed executive responsibility at Grit.

Shankar is a non-executive director of International Enterprises Singapore; a member of the advisory board of the Institute of Societal Leadership at Singapore Management University, and a trustee of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA). He holds a BSc in Physics from Loyola College in Chennai and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore.

Huda Al Lawati’s career has spanned 18 years in private equity and investments across emerging markets.
As Partner at Gateway Partners Group she is a member of the Investment Committee and leads deal origination, execution and portfolio management in the Middle East and Africa regions. Prior to Gateway Miss Al Lawati was Chief Investment Officer for Savola Group, one of the largest publicly-listed strategic investment holding groups for food & retail businesses in the Middle East and North Africa region.
At Savola, where she was responsible for business and investment strategy, portfolio management, M&A and investor relations. She built a professional investment team; led restructuring efforts for ailing subsidiaries; initiated digitization programs; instituted capital allocation, portfolio management, investor relations and M&A processes; and completed M&A and disposal transactions of US$ 500m. Prior to Savola, Huda was a Partner and Chief Investment Officer for MENA at the Abraaj Group, where she deployed over $1 billion in equity capital into MBOs, LBOs, venture capital, growth capital and structured equity transactions and arranged over US$1.5 billion in acquisition and related financing across a broad range of sectors.
She is currently a board member at Tim Hortons Middle East and Gateway Real Estate Africa (Africa) and has served on the boards of Panda Retail Company, Herfy, AlKabeer, Savola Foods Company, SMG, The Entertainer and Kudu. She has also served on audit and renumeration committees. She is also a member of the board of directors the Young Arab Leaders and the Middle East Investor Relations Association and a member of the advisory board of Global Ventures.
