Yanish has a keen eye for sustainable development and contributed in the local context report for the Green Building rating tool for Mauritius, being a Green Star (SA) Accredited Professional. Yanish holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying both from the University of Cape Town.

Pumi joined Gateway Real Estate Africa in May 2018 and is currently responsible for conducting due diligence research on potential real estate projects as well as the procurement of professional services. Prior to joining Gateway Real Estate Africa, Pumi held the position of Development Manager at hospitality group Sun International. She gained valuable property development experience as client representative for a 56 500 m2 mixed-use development comprising retail, residential, office and hotel component in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Some of her responsibilities included the analysis of market research and feasibility options, defining requirements with the design team for the development, as well as internal and external stakeholder engagement.
Other hospitality developments that Pumi was involved are the development of the mixed-use development of Sun Time Square in Menlyn Main Tshwane (South Africa) comprising of a casino, an events arena able to accommodate 8 000 seated guests and 238 key hotel. The development of a new 60key hotel at Sun Meropa Hotel, Polokwane (South Africa) and various other projects at the iconic Sun City Resort in the North West province of South Africa.
MSc Project Management in Construction, BEng Mech
Avish joined Gateway Real Estate Africa in February 2019 from Royal Park Balaclava in Mauritius where he occupied the position of Estate and Project Manager. Prior to joining Royal Park, Avish held the positions of Project Manager and Project Engineer at TDA Consult Limited and Consultec Engineering Limited respectively.Read More
He is a member of the Project Management Professional Institute (PMI) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and is a registered trainer in a number of construction software.
Avish has particular expertise in Programmes of Works for Construction, including procurement routes, contract conditions and the application of FIDIC and PROCSA forms of contracts to the construction industry. Moreover, he is proficient in the preparation and review of cost reports, including the tracking of budgetsas well as quality control for civil and MEP work.
Avish’s tertiary background qualifies him for the management, design and follow-up of both Civil and M&E worksrelated to the construction sector.
His fluency in French, English and Creole provides invaluable support for the co-ordination and flow of site meetings in addition to contractor and general stakeholder interactions.
Elizabeth (Beth) Titan

Beth is a qualified Professional Architect and holds a Master of Architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She joined Gateway Real Estate Africa in January 2018, providing design and development management within the development team. Her scope of responsibilities includes project feasibility, business case analysis and development, risk management planning, workflow process redesign, metric development and measurement as well as the analysis of return on investment metrics.Read More
She joined Gateway Real Estate Africa from Empowered Spaces Architects, a prominent South African commercial and industrial architectural consulting firm where she was responsible for the design and co-ordination of commercial offices, retail shopping centres, industrial warehouses and industrial parks. Prior to relocating to Mauritius to pursue a career in property development, Beth was the Project Architect for professional services firm, Deloitte’s 47,500 m2head office in Johannesburg, valued in excess of USD 90 million.
Before Empowered Spaces Architects, Beth worked as an Associate at Batley Partners International where she assisted the Principal Architect, specialising in shopping centres. Other projects included the design of commercial offices, residential homes and interior design projects.
Her responsibilities included design control and co-ordination, as well as the management of large, multi-disciplinary project consultant and construction teams. She was responsible for detail design and co-ordination, client consultations, structural and services co-ordination on a large scale, tenant co-ordination, tenant fit-out management and assistance with large-scale macro planning.
BSc (Eng) Electrical, MSc (Eng) Mechanical
Nilma is an Electrical Engineer and MEP (mechanical, electrical & plumbing) team leader with more than 15 years’ experience in the Building MEP Engineering Sector. She joined Gateway Real Estate Africa in February 2020, providing design and development management within the development team.Read More
Prior to joining Gateway Real Estate Africa, Nilma has evolved as an MEP Consulting Engineer. Her responsibilities included client liaison, engagement with various regulatory authorities to obtain clearances, budget preparation and updating, design calculations, specification write-ups, producing tender documents and drawings, the management of the design team comprising other design engineers and draughtsmen and site follow-up.
Her areas of expertise include design, cost management, construction, commissioning and operation of electrical equipment across a wide range of building services projects in Mauritius and in the Indian Ocean Region. Having gained management experience throughout her working career, Nilma employs a participative, team-based philosophy to optimise output and results.
Nilma is a Chartered Engineer under the Engineering Council UK, a member of The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and a member of the Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius.

David joined the Gateway Real Estate Africa team in 2017 and contributed to its successful maiden capital raise. David has subsequently worked within a broad range of development opportunities and offers valuable real estate investment management experience to the team. David reports to the Chief Investment Officer and primarily focuses on the due diligence, capital structuring and feasibility analysis of new projects for the business.Read More
David joined from multi-listed African property fund Grit Real Estate Income Group where he worked in the investment team covering the entire deal lifecycle for real estate acquisitions across Africa. David has also accrued valuable property development exposure in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
David’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce (Hon.) in Financial Analysis and a Bachelor of Science in Property Studies both from the University of Cape Town. David has also achieved a Financial Modeling and Valuations Analyst designation from the Corporate Finance Institute.
Louis has five years’ experience in corporate finance. He joined Gateway in September 2019 as an investment analyst, responsible for due diligence, feasibility analysis and investment management processes of commercial real estate across multiple African jurisdictions.Read More
Previously, Louis worked in transaction advisory services at Squareness Financial Consulting, where he gained extensive experience in conducting financial due diligences in various industries both as a buy-side and sell-side advisor in the context of M&A transactions. Before that, Louis worked at Essling Capital, an independent asset manager specialized in unlisted assets, where he was part of the co-investment team. His ambit of analysis includes financial performance analyses, financial statement analyses, business plan analyses, as well as the development of valuation models. He started his career at Deloitte in Financial Auditing and Société Générale in Equity Capital Market.
Louis holds a Master of Science in Management from IESEG School of Management and a Bachelor of Business from James Cook University Singapore.
Group Financial Manager
Ashvin holds the position of Group Financial Manager, responsible for the implementation of effective accounting, bookkeeping and administration procedures as well as all regulatory and audit compliance measures.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Ashvin manages the preparation and maintenance of both management accounts and annual financial statements according to statutory requirements. Prior to joining Africa Property Development Managers, Ashvin was the Head of Finance of Ascencia Group and EnAtt Limited, respectively being a prominent property fund in Mauritius and asset development and management specialist. His responsibilities included the full ambit of financial and accounting practices, fund raising and involvement in development projects from a finance and accounting perspective.
Karin has more than 12 years’ experience in the retail and commercial property arena. She commenced her property career at Universal Property Professionals, were she spent 4 years with the development and leasing team. In addition she spent some 3 years at Motseng Property Services (a privately owned South African property manager) where she was appointed as the national leasing manager.Read More
Additional experience include the redevelopment and extension of Centurion Mall, a super regional shopping centre in Gauteng, South Africa with a gross lettable area of approximatey 120 000 square meters as well as the leasing of Mall of Africa, South Africa’s largest single-stage mall with a gross lettable area of approximately 131 000 square meters.
Karin’s experience includes leasing of retail, commercial and residential properties, tenant mix and tenant statistics, with exposure to all classes of property including retail, commercial, industrial and offices.

Tara is responsible for the co-ordination and smooth functioning of Gateway Real Estate Africa’s generally office support services and administrative functions. With a team of 2 administrators, she oversees and coordinates all continental and international travel arrangements including visa applications, insurance and accommodation for executives, staff and external parties.Read More
In addition, Tara supports the company’s human resources, payroll and procurement functions, providing particular assistance in investor outreach and company secretarial obligations which include the co-ordination of investor meetings and roadshows as well as the compilation of board packs and assistance with the scheduling of board meetings.
Formerly the office administrator at Grit Real Estate Income Group and executive personal assistant to the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer and the Head of New Developments, Tara has exceptional organisational skills.
Her hands-on prior experience with HR Mobility provided Tara with valuable first-hand expertise in the administration of expatriate relocations, including house searches, lease agreements, co-ordinating visa requirements and the facilitation of queries.
